When SEA Design Build began work on the Ridgecrest Residence in San Mateo, we were tasked with updating a dated 1980s layout into a bright, open home designed for modern family living. This kitchen remodel and great room remodelfocused on improving flow, functionality, and connection across the main level.
We removed the old kitchen peninsula that once closed off the space, opening sightlines between the kitchen, dining, and living areas. A new, multifunctional island now serves as the centrepiece — perfect for family meals, homework, and everyday gatherings. The fireplace zone was redesigned as a warm focal point, complemented by a sleek new staircase that adds architectural depth.
Under the stairs, what was once hidden storage became a stylish beverage nook — a subtle nod to form meeting function.
Every detail, from the custom cabinetry to the integrated pet water station, reflects thoughtful design. This San Mateo home remodel showcases how a kitchen remodel, room addition, or home addition can completely transform the way a family lives, connects, and entertains.
